Here is what Hosty wrote about the note (this is from the book "Assignment Oswald"):

The KGB officers who met Oswald (well before Hosty interviewed Marina) when he went to Mexico City said he was upset and angry about "the notorious FBI" (his words) and that he showed them a revolver that he said he needed to protect himself.

John Fain, the first FBI agent that the Oswalds were assigned to, said that Oswald was surly and uncooperative when he was first interviewed. But he was more cooperative on the second. Fain said he also interviewed Marguerite and Robert.

And, from what I've read, the radical left publications that Oswald read carried stories critical of the FBI's practices. We can add Marina's account in the Priscilla McMillan book. Nowhere does she mention Hosty trying to seduce her.

So, it seems that Oswald could have been angry at Hosty for reasons having nothing to do with his idea that Hosty was trying to seduce Marina. Although who knows? Maybe it was a mixture of reasons including his suspicions about Marina's fidelity.

Hosty wrote the book long after the fact....and naturally he would put the spin he wanted on that note....

Do you really believe that lee would have been livid with Hosty when they came face to face if what he writes in Assignment Oswald is the truth???..... I seriously doubt that simply asking Marina questions about his employment and where he had a room would have caused Lee to accuse Hosty of "accosting" marina, and threatening to file a complaint.

Marina's account in the Priscilla McMillan book. Nowhere does she mention Hosty trying to seduce her.

In the book Marina and Lee CIA agent Pricilla Mc Millian says that Marina really liked that nice FBI agent ( Hosty)

Lee was trying to tell her to beware of the FBI.....but she was very supportive of Hosty. and described him as being "very nice"......But less than a month later after the murder of  her husband Lee,  she wouldn't even talk to Hosty....  and Robert Oswald who was there a Six Flags detected Marina's animosity toward Hosty.....  Why the change??

Another point that should be mentioned id WHERE AND WHEN did Marina get Hosty's car license plate number so that she could give it to Lee?   Lee had that number in his address book....   The Warren Commission tried to determine how Marina was able to obtain Hosty's license number and were unable to discover how she had accomplished that....

Perhaps the nice FBI agent paid a visit to Marina when Ruth Paine was away on an errand ......

Hosty trying to seduce Marina is right up there with the best JFK fantasies. Nice one. She didn't speak English and he didn't speak Russian but through Ruth Paine acting as translator he tries to seduce a women he's never met before. Classic.

I read a transcript of a Hosty interview taken years later where Hosty admitted he had floated the idea past Marina that she could pass him information about her husband. He said approaching the spouse of people of interest was common practice. No wonder Oswald was outraged. Most men would be I'd think.

Sounds like sailor in a foreign port......  Nothing unusual about it....  happens every day.

You guys have some imagination if you think him doing his job is the same as trying to seduce her.

The two wouldn't necessarily be mutually exclusive.

Marina told Lee that she thought FBI agent Hosty was a nice man.....   In fact they actually quarreled about Hosty.  When Marina told him that FBI Hosty had visited, Lee told her to avoid Hosty and refrain from providing him any information. Marina argued that Hosty was a nice man and he simply wanted to know if any Russians threatened her or her family in the USSR.  Lee told her that the FBI was not merely protecting her.....

Then just  a couple of weeks later Marina told Lee's brother Robert that she didn't want to talk to Hosty and Robert noticed a definite animosity toward Hosty.

Something certainly caused Marina to make a complete reversal of her feeling toward Hosty.

I would think Hosty was nice to Marina the first time he went to see her but then exerted his power and threatened her if she didn't report on her husband LHO.  That would certainly be enough to anger Oswald to that extent.  It would also explain her avoiding speaking to Hosty after her husband had been killed.

Why do you ask how did Marina get Hosty's number plate?  It was in Oswald's book.  Oswald was involved in low level intelligence so he would be conscious if anyone was watching the house and would have noted the number plate.  Maybe he did that to check with Warren de Brueys who Hosty was?  Oswald was likely an FBI informant.  Maybe that was kept from Hosty at first?

Abuse of power by Hosty could have led to relations with Marina but I think threats about deportation more likely.  They certainly worked after the assassination.

I read somewhere that the photograph of a car on Gen Edwin Walker's car with the number plate cut out and removed was Hosty's car.  A photo exists without the number plate removed but I think it can't be read.  May be it can be determined with today's technology?

The fact that Hosty's number was in Oswald's book wouldn't have necessarily been a reason to cover up Hosty's car at Walker's home.  That is unless of course he was up to a covert plan to frame Oswald as the shooter who fired at Walker.  The range of that shot made it impossible for anyone who knew one end of a rifle from the other to miss.  Walker was very right wing, Oswald was painted as a commie.

Was Hosty a member of any far right organisation?
