"JFK UNSOLVED: The Real Conspiracies" is the new ABC7 Originals documentary based on Thompson's book, "Last Second in Dallas."

The film explores Thompson's analysis of the evidence and shows how he believes the government tried to cover up what really happened.

THE INVESTIGATOR

Josiah Thompson is part of an elite group of assassination researchers who descended on Dealey Plaza in Dallas after President Kennedy's death on Nov. 22, 1963.

Thompson worked on a cover story for LIFE Magazine and wrote what is considered to be a seminal book on the assassination, "Six Seconds in Dallas," in 1967.

Thompson went on to a long, distinguished career as a private detective, but kept coming back to the JFK assassination.

For the past 10 years, he revisited the forensic evidence, worked with a team of scientists, researchers, and assassination buffs, and wrote a new book, "Last Second in Dallas."

Thompson trusted investigative reporter Dan Noyes to turn the book into a documentary film.

Great to see the highly-regarded and renowned JFK researcher Josiah Thompson being "honored for his service" (as they say about anybody these days).

Bad that it's recycling CT errors and misrepresentations.

Personally, I thought so much of "Tink" that I figured he would have come over to the LN way of thinking in his later years.

Have you read his latest book?

While working on a cover story for Life Magazine in 1967, Josiah Thompson observed that all of the 30+ shells to have been fired in the carcano during and after the assassination had a chambering mark on the side of the shell casing. All except CE 543. Even CE 141, the unfired cartridge ejected from the rifle by Fritz, had the chambering mark on the side of the shell.

Despite photographing the three shells and live cartridge recovered on the 6th floor of the TSBD and then noting the chambering mark on three of the four shells in his book, Six Seconds in Dallas, Josiah ignores the implications of his observation and instead advances a belief in a conspiracy as being responsible for the assassination of JFK. Despite having the knowledge that CE 543 was never fired in the rifle, it appears Josiah is still chasing his belief in a phantom third shot conspiracy to this day .

You don't have to eat a whole egg to know it's rotten. ::)

And you don't have to completely read a Commission report to understand that something is very wrong.

I just finished the Last Second in Dallas documentary.

This one mostly focuses on Josiah Thompson’s research but gives both sides (Thompson’s views and the official views) an objective hearing. The film also avoids speculation about "Who" killed JFK or "Why" he was killed. It strictly focuses on the forensics of what happened in Dealey Plaza.

There isn’t much that I didn’t already know in this film but it does a decent job of summarizing the criticisms of the official investigations.

So for people new to JFK assassination history (most people under age 50), it’s a good overview of the facts on both sides.

I definitely enjoyed JFK Revisited more but this film is very good too.
