And here we go.

One side says Trump is God, he's the savior of the Republic and the other says Trump is a merciless monster who was Putin's Manchurian candidate.

It never ends.

Nice to see you're not prone to exaggeration and drama. :D

Nobody said Trump was another Hitler or a Russian asset and lackey for Putin? And nobody on the right said he was the last best hope for America? Did you follow American politics these past four years?

Okay, I made that all up. Actually, his hardcore supporters and hardcore opponents were all level headed, sober and careful people.

But to be more serious a bit: I don't think the vast majority of Americans held either view. Just the fringes do.

It does raise a question for you as a Canadian leftwinger: Don't you see him as a racist, xenophobic dictator? Who colluded with Putin to steal the election? And appeased Putin for four years? How is that much different than what I wrote above?

You seem to make a lot of things up. I like the one where you think of yourself as an independent.

Well, I see myself as a conservative, but a progressive one. Rather like the Republicans who joined the Lincoln Project, and disaffected Republicans like Cindy McCain and Anna Navarro. Trump and probably most of his supporters are racists; of course not openly. Trump even makes fun of people with disabilities. He's an egocentric One-Percent elitist who takes delight in lording it over the weak and "losers".

I never said Trump himself directly colluded with Putin. The Senate Report got as far as Manafort and Kilimnik. One is a Trump lackey and the other a Putin lackey. Because Trump wouldn't cooperate and stalled at every turn, it's circumstantial evidence. Somewhat like much of the evidence against Oswald.

"In sum, the investigation established multiple links between Trump
Campaign officials and individuals tied to the Russian government.
Those links included Russian offers of assistance to the Campaign.
In some instances, the Campaign was receptive to the offer, while in
other instances the Campaign officials shied away. Ultimately, the
investigation did not establish that the Campaign coordinated or
conspired with the Russian government in its election-interference
     activities."

          -- Mueller Report

Couldn't establish it mainly because of Trump's use of executive privilege and that his campaigns' "dirty tricks" were designed to avoid detection and direct paper trails. See also: Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Fifth Report ( Link )

Paul Manafort, then-chairman of the Trump campaign, spoke through encryption and code words regularly with Konstantin Kilimnik, an active Russian agent. The Senate Report said: "Staff on the Trump Campaign sought advance notice about WikiLeaks releases, created messaging strategies to promote and share the materials in anticipation of and following their release, and encouraged further leaks." The DNC was hacked in June 2016, which was traced to Russia.

It's more sensible to believe that a political novice--who's cachet came from being a reality show star for greed and selfishness, and who took multi-million dollar bailouts and inheritance from his father and turned it into a string of bankruptcies and debt--would make the better President. Fox News has convinced nearly half of Americans of this, which makes one question the "dominance" of the Liberal Media.

Spin it anyway that you want.  The Dems and media spun a fake story that Trump colluded with the Russians to win the 2016 election.  They spent three years on that wild conspiracy theory.  After years of investigation there was zero evidence of this.  Instead the media desperately tried to conflate unrelated "links" between folks who worked on Trump's campaign and Russia with the fake collusion theory to fool the rubes who weren't paying much attention.  If, for example, a Russian was in attendance at a conference that a Trump official attended, that was characterized as a link with Russia.  But that is past history.  How about the gas prices, inflation, crime, shortages, hacks, Middle East chaos, illegals pouring across the border, Kamala embarrassing herself before the US military, mounting debt....

Bottoms up/Chugalug

Trump arse-kissers claim he was joking. No he wasn't.

You mean the guy who facilitated the development of the vaccine that resolved the pandemic?  That guy.  While the Dems were shouting racism, shutting down the economy, touting masks as the solution, and casting doubt on the vaccine because it was produced under Trump.  I'll take results over words any day.

Trump didn't do anymore than any other President would have done. Pfizer partnered with Germany’s BioNTech two months before Warp Speed, joining the program only as a potential supplier; no funding for research. The US-only Johnson & Johnson vaccine is not that good..

So they should have mutely accepted what happened to George Floyd?

Masks were effective. For example: no large outbreaks on Navy capital ships and Army bases vs. Trump super-spreaders (remember anti-masker Herman Cain). See ie: Effectiveness of Mask Wearing to Control Community Spread of SARS-CoV-2, JAMA ( Link )

Democrats didn't think that mask-wearing and health-based business precautions should be political. It was the Republicans who tried to turn it into election bait.

Pretty sure the guy who was reminded to wear a mask and instead wiped his nose on a Dollar Tree employee was Republican.

At that time, a third of Americans wouldn't take the vaccine if offered by election day. Some said they wouldn't take it if it was solely-based on Trump's word. The pampered-child who whipped his mask off at the White House after being cured by wealth-care, and who linked child vaccinations with autism.

Trump is a criminal. Completely untrustworthy.
