This, for me, is if not his greatest performance then among the top handful. "Promised Land" is my favorite song, a song about despair and hope and fear and anger - about trying to find that resting place. He mentions the "promised land" in a number of his songs. Here he brings that pain, that hunger, that desperation, to life. Remarkable. I think his reaction upon finishing, when he made an effort to shake everyone's hands, shows how he was affected by it.
