As Bugliosi noted, if there had been a conspiracy there would have been a car waiting for LHO to drive him to his death. They never would have relied on a nut like Jack Ruby to do the job with so many things that could have gone wrong.

...there would have been a car waiting for LHO to drive him to his death.

That screams conspiracy.
Have a cop race in to find Oswald with the rifle (carefully planted afterwards) in his hand and plug him on the spot.
Better yet, have Ruby race in.

You're just wee bit off center there Dan.....

The plotters thought that Lee would plant the rifle AFTER he heard the shot......   But Lee didn't stick to the script, he buried the carcano beneath the boxes before he went down to the first floor.

Had Lee stuck to the stage play he would have been behind the SE corner window with the spent shells, and the rifle in his hands ...And he would have been shot dead by "an alert Secret Service agent" (at least that's who would would have been given a medal for his alert action.)

There was also a legitimate opportunity to "silence" Oswald in the Texas Theatre when he resisted arrest and pulled a gun on an officer.  A golden opportunity but those sly conspirators decide to arrest him, allow him to speak freely to the press, then recruit an unstable nut and rely on him to spend the rest of his life in jail without talking.   What a plan.  This is all a great example of no good deed going unpunished.  The DPD attempted to be as transparent as possible.  That resulted in chaos that unintentionally created security risks.

Nice photo, the idea that the Dallas Police was behind or even partly behind the Assassination is easily refuted with a wall of cameras!
So...police departments act as a unified Borg collective and the idea that there could have been rogue Kennedy hating individuals who conspired to do him in was just simply impossible.

They?
The invention of a phantom conspiracy and speculating their woulda- coulda- shoulda decisions are in themselves just as whacky as the shooters in the sewers stuff.

Smith...Smith...Smith,
Perhaps this opportunity was not all that 'legitimate' because you were not friggen there and know not what might have really  happened.
One thing for the record...there was no record kept of the other theater patrons or testimony from them.
How come? As I recall-the list of patrons disappeared along with a record of license plate numbers in the TSBD parking lot and the other residents of Oswald's rooming house.
No matter how you slice it.. it always comes back to square one...the case against Oswald isn't squat.
Oswald was never 'allowed to speak freely to the press'...Another Smith fib.

Why did they let a Patsy have a Press Conference?
Another peanut post. Oswald never had a press conference.
As stated in the clip 1:47..it was a parade [just for show]
Everybody knows what he meant when he said "I'm just a patsy".
So what's the point?

It wasn't "just for show".... It was to allow Jack Ruby the opportunity to silence Lee Oswald, but Ruby couldn't fight his way to the front of the mob of reporters to a place where he could be sure of a lethal shot.

Maybe they hadn’t yet made up the story about what happened in the theater at that point.
