Russia and the Confederacy

The following article draws parallels between Russia of 2022 and the Confederacy of 1861.

Opinions | Russia is suffering from the same problems that doomed the Confederacy - by the Washington Post

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/opinions-russia-is-suffering-from-the-same-problems-that-doomed-the-confederacy/ar-AA13dBKa?ocid=vt_fbmsn&cvid=89e2d6f06d1a459982ee96b2b0ede6c9

There are some comparisons. The wildly confident expectations and predictions of a quick victory. The difficulty of producing enough military supplies. The difficulties of getting enough volunteers (more of a problem for Russia than the Confederacy, but a problem for both).

A comparison that the article did not make was:

The Confederacy - "Cotton is King" - caused them to think Europe would help.
Russia - "Oil and Gas is King" - causing them to discount European aid to Ukraine.

Sometimes, a strong and just cause can cause countries to go against narrow self interest concerns. Particularly in 2022. After all, success of the Confederacy in the 1860's did not imperial the survival of any European countries. Success of Russia in 2022 does.

Russia and the confederacy go hand in hand with MAGA Republican traitors. MAGAs support the confederacy and Putin. They are anti American traitors.

That is perhaps the single dumbest historical analogy that I have ever had the misfortune to encounter.  Russia and the Confederacy?  Wow.  How about a better comparison using Vietnam and Ukraine?  With a focus on how and why America is constantly drawn into these regional conflicts with a policy of creeping escalation that lasts for decades until the country is destroyed, and hundreds of thousands are dead for no reason.

Another terrible historical analogy.

Why not the Iran-Iraq war? Or the Mexican-American war?

The Russia-Ukraine war is a regional conflict with more similarities to those two prior wars that I mentioned…

A country is destroyed and thousands are dead because a mass murderer named Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine and started an illegal war.

Putin was emboldened by the weakness and incompetence of Old Joe.  He did not invade while Trump was president.  Old Joe's inability to formulate a policy to bring the war to an end has ensured that the level of destruction has been maximized.  It will just go on and on and on.  Ukranians and Russians will die due to his incompetence.  But he is not Trump.  So it's all good to you - right?  The ends justify the means. The only objective is to keep Trump out of office.  If that means suppressing speech, corrupting the legal system, and even allowing an entire country to be destroyed, it's fine.

Same old stale Russian propaganda. :D :D :D

This isn't Biden's war to end. This is Putin's war to end. This is Ukraine's war to fight. President Biden and our allies are only aiding Ukraine.

LOL.  You are finally learning.  No one thought such a thing possible.  The US has intervened in a war in which it has no way to end.  We are basically at the mercy of Putin.  Does he fight this war for five years, ten, fifty?  It is entirely up to Russia to decide how long it goes on because weak Joe and his clown show have not shown strength, formulated any objective, or plan for how to bring an end to it.  It is Vietnam all over again.  Creeping escalation into a regional conflict with no way to force an end.  Just on and on and on with the deaths and destruction.  Years from now they will curse Biden the same way they curse LBJ in Vietnam.
