If this is such a crisis being created by a handful of radicals with disastrous results for the country, a few Dems merely have to vote for McCarthy to end it.

The Republicans are the majority party. Why should the Democrats have to help a party that can't even get their own house in order solve a problem they themselves have created. When Democrats give McCarthy the support he needs, all they will get in return is obstruction for the next two years. That's not in the interests of the American people!

Are you suggesting the Dems are putting politics ahead of national interests?

No not at all. It's not in the national interest to have a weak speaker as McCarthy who can't even keep the extreme right wing of his party under control. McCarthy offers no guarantee that any serious business will be done in the House for the next two years. It would be far better when the majority of the Republicans come to an agreement with Jeffries in order to get actual work down and reduce the possibilities for the extreme right wingers to advance their own agenda. All it would take is 6 well minded Republicans to end this farce and some Republicans are already beginning to talk about that option. It won't take long before some of McCarthy's backers get so fed up with this mess that they decided to take that route.

The Republicans won a majority of the seats pursuant to the democratic process.  It is unrealistic to suggest that the solution is for the majority to usurp the will of the people and select someone from the minority party.

But it is "realistic" that an extreme right wing minority (for which most Republican voters did not vote) hijack the party and House and hold it hostage to push through their catastrophic agenda, in the full knowledge that it will never work? They don't have an alternative, and even if they did, they will never get the majority of the votes.

Don't worry.  "Europe" is still getting its money. You won't have to pay for education or health care or even get a job.  Just ride the wave of socialism paid for by Americans.

Whatever caused your head injury? Are you really this stupid and/or ignorant to believe that America is paying for education, health care and schools in Europe?
You really need to stop parroting all the bogus right wing propaganda and educate yourself before you say something as silly as this again.

Sounds like you agree with the "radical" right wingers that McCarthy shouldn't be the Speaker.  Thank goodness they have taken a stand instead of acting like sheep.  Jeffries is an election denier.  He claimed that the Russian interfered in the 2016 election to influence the outcome.  One of the greatest fake conspiracy theories in history.  He should be impeached.  The US does pay for the socialist programs of "Europe."  First, Europe would still be controlled by the Nazis if not for the US.  Second, the US has stupidly paid for the defense of "Europe" for the last 70 years and counting.  Because "Europe" does not have to pay for their own defense, they are free to spend money in other ways like education and health care.  If some other country had paid for the national defense of the US for the last 70 decades, there would be ample funds for every such cause.  Instead our corrupt politicians have opted for endless war to control the money and funnel it to their supporters who ensure their reelections and enrich their families.

I couldn't care less. It would be a choice between two evils; McCarthy and the alternative..... but wait, those extremist right wingers don't even have a credible alternative. HAHAHAHAHA

Thank goodness they have taken a stand instead of acting like sheep.

Instead they are acting like idiots. The majority of the Republican members (those who are supporting McCarthy now) will never ever accept anybody put forward by those rebels. Which is exactly why McCarthy would be foolish to withdraw, as the person who would succeed him would suffer under the same blackmail by the extremists. The incompetence of the Republican party is on full display here!

Jeffries is an election denier.  He claimed that the Russian interfered in the 2016 election to influence the outcome.  One of the greatest fake conspiracy theories in history.  He should be impeached.

Hilarious. All the extremists, who don't have any constructive plans to benefit the American people, can do is call for the impeachment of just about anybody they can think of.

The US does pay for the socialist programs of "Europe."

BS... You can't even name a so-called socialist country in Europe.

First, Europe would still be controlled by the Nazis if not for the US.

Really? Are you forgetting the Russians? They were in Berlin first. Which is also the main reason for the US to be in that war. They couldn't afford to lose Europe to the Russians.

Second, the US has stupidly paid for the defense of "Europe" for the last 70 years and counting.

Regardless of the propaganda crap you have swallowed hook line and sinker, the US hasn't paid for the defense of Europe. What they have done, just like Canada, is pay for NATO and the defense of the Free western world. There was nothing altruistic about those payments.

Because "Europe" does not have to pay for their own defense, they are free to spend money in other ways like education and health care.

It is simply not true that Europe (do you perhaps think that it is one country?) does not pay for their own defense. In fact, to date the European countries combined have paid more to help Ukraine than the US has. The difference is that the US is supplying miltairy equipment and European aid goes to supporting infrastructure etc.

If some other country had paid for the national defense of the US for the last 70 decades, there would be ample funds for every such cause.  Instead our corrupt politicians have opted for endless war to control the money and funnel it to their supporters who ensure their reelections and enrich their families.

And that would include the tax breaks for the wealthy, the Republicans like so much, right?

For someone who "couldn't care less" you sure have expended a lot of words on the topic.  And the Russians were going to save "Europe" during WWII?  Maybe read your history books.  It was the Russians who invaded Poland in 1939.  You would be speaking Russian if the US had not liberated "Europe."  The US has provided more aid to Ukraine than all of the countries in the entire world combined.  Not just "Europe."  Much of the limited aid provided by "Europe" to Ukraine had been compensated by the US.

Moving the goalposts again? Earlier you said "Europe would still be controlled by the Nazis if not for the US" which simply wasn't true.
It blew up in your face because the Soviets were in Berlin way before the Western Allies.

The US didn't liberate Europe. At least not most of it. More than half of Europe came under Russian control for decades and there was nothing the US could do to prevent that.
And the other part was liberated by the Western Allies of which the US was one, which is why Stalin and Truman were not the only ones at Cecilienhof and why Berlin was broken up in four sectors!
But you probably wouldn't know any of that, as you, unlike me, have never been there and most likely have to look up what Cecilienhof is.

The US has provided more aid to Ukraine than all of the countries in the entire world combined.

That's simply not true.

Much of the limited aid provided by "Europe" to Ukraine had been compensated by the US.

And that's not true either.

A magnificent display of Democracy in which Trump brokered the final deal.  So much winning!  It's great to see a process in which the American people are the beneficiaries instead of just the corrupt political establishment.  The Dems just vote like sheep for whatever they are told by their corrupt establishment leaders.  Some Republicans have begun to push back.  Hopefully this means the stranglehold over power by a handful of corrupt politicians like Pelosi and McConnell is coming to an end.  The pundits on CNN were almost in tears.  They couldn't believe that the establishment would be forced to concede some of its power.  No dissent is allowed.  And on the same day they arrested the mother of Ashli Babbitt for protesting her murder on Jan 6 by the Capitol Police.  Shameful.

Hilarious! Trump brokered nothing.

So, now the American people are the beneficiaries with McCarthy as speaker? Now, he's suddenly no longer part of the corrupt establishment?

It is not possible to end the entrenched stranglehold that the corrupt political establishment has over American politics in one day.  It has to be changed gradually.  The holdouts received concessions that will improve the process by decentralizing the power of the Speaker.  Magnificent.  Trump saves the day once again.  If only "Europe" had a figure like Trump instead of weak socialist leaders.

You still haven't been able to name even one European country that is socialist. Why is that?
