In the famous photograph showing Oswald in handcuffs and posing with raised forearms, did he know he was making a Communist salute, or was he just trying to look "cool"?
These are the words of Vincent Drain, FBI agent, from “No More Silence” by Larry Sneed:
“That was on Friday night, the night of the assassination. I can’t recall just what all he was saying other than his shouting some remarks and throwing his fist in the air and that sort of thing. It’s hard to say what kind of opinion you’d have of a fellow that you’d just observed there, but considering the stress he must have been under, he seemed pretty cool and not overly excited.
He seemed to be very sure of himself with a feeling of a sense of accomplishment.”A lot of the LEOs and others who saw and heard him in person had similar things to say. My own opinion is that it was definitely a communist salute. LHO was smart enough to avoid saying much of anything that would tend to incriminate himself. But apparently he didn’t have any problem using his attitude, demeanor, and cryptic symbolism to show the world what was what.
