Morley's List of 13 Documents Will Tell Us Little
Jefferson Morley published a list of 13 documents he would like to see coming out President Trump's declassification efforts. Unfortunately, those documents will not tell us very much about the actual assassination.
More sensationalism and hyperbole from Morley. More bells and whistles and shiny objects about CIA and spies. So Schlesinger wrote a memo (shocking! Schlesinger writing memos?), made suggestions about CIA reorganization and then it what? Disappeared, went nowhere. There is no evidence that I've seen - and Morley can't produce any - that his suggestions went anywhere. In the biographies of JFK I've read (Dallek, Reeves) he loved this type of exercise from his people, people presenting ideas. It's why he was displeased with Rusk who wasn't one of those types to think outside of the box. And Harvey hated RFK because of the latter's recklessness with the Cuban operations and security.
What does any of this have to do with Dallas? How does he plan to go from this material to the shooting? He has imaginary dots and imaginary connections. It's simply more reverse engineering his "CIA killed JFK" conspiracy: conspiracy first and then pore over the material and pluck those pieces out he thinks supports his original claim.
I always liked his "Who shot John" quote from Nixon that he turned into evidence of the conspiracy in the assassination. It's just a figure of speech, an idiom and nothing more. The "John" wasn't JFK; it simply stood for a imaginary person.
In any case, what's worse again is that he is being cited in news stories on the new releases and the FBI discovery of additional files. He's described simply as a "JFK files expert." Swell, just swell. Give him credit, though, he knows how to play the media with his newest shiny thing; which always turns out to be neither new or shiny but just a thing.
