Jake, just spend a minute or two and compare the size of the head you have "discovered" with the size of the heads of the men stood to the left of the picture.

Dan, I agree that there seems to be a little oddity with this... But I think we can identify this as a head... even with what seems to be a hat... and not a random artifact...
It is a puzzle for sure...
I have wondered if Moorman was altered somehow... and re-photographed by some means... and then purposely “thumb-printed” to cover something missed earlier...
Just another theory to ponder...

I flipped Moorman head and made this gif... transparency over the first man on the steps... Perspective seems to be more in line than it might appear...
And that does look like a hat badge...
