Was a double mistake in February 1967 as he writes in Chapter 1:

“By the time I lifted my nose from the lengthy article, my food was cold and I was alone. Everyone else had finished lunch and had left for afternoon lectures. My “How to Think Straight” logic class was now nearly over.”

First, he was reading an article by Mark Lane.

Second, because he was engrossed in the article, he missed his “How to Think Straight” logic class.

LOL

Amazing that this was his first mistake, most of us would have made at least one by that age.

Is this kind of condescending snark supposed to advance our understanding of the case?

More from Barry Ernest in his book “The Girl on the Stairs:”

“In my zeal of research, I had completely overlooked the fast-approaching final exams for the spring term. I muddled my way through them under the delusion they weren’t difficult and that earlier good grades would carry me.

.
.
.

Several weeks later, two letters appeared in my home mailbox. One diplomatically informed me that because of poor grades, my days at Kent State were over. I had flunked out. The other was from my government. I was now classified 1-A. My college deferment was done, and I had become qualified for active military service.”

Whoops....
