Along with two assassination researchers, I had the pleasure to spend five hours with Jim Leavelle back in June of this year at his residence. Jim was happy to have us, you could tell that by the way he talked to us. He spent about forty-five minutes talking about the assassination and Oswald. The rest of the time, he talked about Pearl Harbor, his wife Taimi and a few hours of stories related to his time as a member of the Dallas Police Department. Each time he finished a story, he would pause for maybe ten seconds before asking us if we wanted to hear another one. We hung on his every word. In five short hours, I could easily tell that Jim Leavelle was a great man. Jim was much more than simply the guy who was handcuffed to Oswald. That Bob Jackson photo made him famous, but it certainly did not define him.
