Why are you comparing the overall death rate of the flu to the 18-49 death rate in California for COVID?  Apples and oranges.

Not according to the CDC or the John Hopkins Medical Center. If anything, there is good evidence that a sizable percentage of COVID-19 deaths were not actually caused by COVID-19 but were labeled as such because the person had COVID-19.

You did not mention New Zealand in your reply, so I did not "ignore" it. New Zealand is an island with a population of barely 4 million spread out over 103,000 square miles. New Zealand also imposed a strict travel ban on March 19--all travel into the country by non-citizens was banned (yet liberals went ape when Trump imposed a ban on travel from China).

a) Trump did not "ban" travel from China.  40,000 people entered the United States via direct flights from China (both Americans and non-Americans, including from Wuhan) after the so-called "ban".

b) Liberals didn't "go ape".  That Trump's revisionist "history".

c) The initial mass outbreaks in the New York area came from Europe, not China.  Travel wasn't restricted from Europe until March 12.

No, it is not. Your experts said over and over and over and over again that without lockdowns we would have 2-plus million deaths.

More Trump misinformation.  What they actually said what that if no mitigation efforts were introduced then there could be 2 million deaths.

When people learn about these statistics, their first reaction is usually, "Then why in the world are we so panicked over this virus?"

Maybe because we don't consider people over 60 to be expendable for the sake of the almighty dollar.

You're trying to have it both ways.  You can't use statistics that are based on the implementation of mitigation efforts in order to argue that these efforts are not necessary.

Instead of banning large gatherings or limiting large gatherings to 10K-20K people, lift all such restrictions but ban anyone aged 65 and older and the medically ill from attending. Instead of making everyone wear masks, only require masks for the aged and the medically ill.

Masks are for the infected people, not for the infectees.   The younger people may be less likely to die or have severe symptoms, but they can still spread the virus to others who are not.  This would make no sense whatsoever.
