Sally Yates’ delivers a body blow to Trump’s "Deep State" conspiracy theories

Matthew Chapman

On Thursday, writing for The Washington Post, conservative columnist Jennifer Rubin outlined why the testimony of former acting Attorney General Sally Yates was a body blow to the "Deep State" conspiracy theories of President Donald Trump and his allies.

"Former deputy attorney general Sally Yates provided as definitive an account as you are going to get regarding former national security adviser Michael Flynn, the Russia investigation and the politicization of the Justice Department during testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday," wrote Rubin. "Republicans have been so immersed in a false account of events and in conspiracy-mongering for a failed president that they seemed startled when Yates corrected them again and again."

Yates, wrote Rubin, argued seven main points: Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was not being surveilled; Flynn was only caught up because he was plotting to "neuter" sanctions against Russia with a surveilled Russian official; Flynn lied to Vice President Mike Pence about what he was doing; the FBI was running a counterintelligence investigation, not a criminal one; the FBI continued the investigation because they had evidence of Flynn's contacts with Russia; Flynn told material lies to FBI officials in the course of the investigation; and Attorney General William Barr's efforts to block the prosecution of Flynn were completely improper.
S
"While President Trump raged from afar on Twitter, Yates presented what should be the face of Justice Department," wrote Rubin. "She calmly and forcefully recounted facts. She steered clear of policy disputes and refused to second-guess her successor, former deputy attorney general Rod J. Rosenstein. she aptly demonstrated that, while Republicans have been sucked into a parallel world of conspiracies and falsehoods, the facts are the facts."

"It is this deportment, candor and professionalism that Barr has shredded while in office," concluded Rubin. "If we are looking for the antithesis of Barr, we need look no further than Sally Yates."

"She aptly demonstrated that, while Republicans have been sucked into a parallel world of conspiracies and falsehoods, the facts are the facts."

Ha ha  that makes as much sense as "a conservative columnist at the WaPo"  Rubin is such a conservative   ha ha  and the Navy boy really likes Trump

1,000+ Americans per day now dying. Another 1.2 million applied for unemployment the past week. Children back in school now catching the disease....To a Trump supporter this is considered good news. Sad.

Yes, tell it Cuomo.  Most of the deaths were in NY due to his incompetence.  Despite the pandemic, the economy is surging.  Stock market is roaring.  Jobs are coming back.  The only downside is that our cities that have been run by do nothing democrats like Biden are in complete chaos.   Biden is in severe cognitive decline.  He would be 82 years old at the end of his term.  82!  A man that has had two brain operations, doesn't know where he is, and is clearly in mental decline.  No one believes he will finish his term.  And another do nothing establishment politician like Harris or Benghazi Rice will take over.  What a disaster.  Higher taxes, the end of the production of energy, mob rule, anarchy, and chaos.  A great alternative to a strong economy, rule of law, employment, fair trade deals.  No end to the winning.

Donald Trump's Frontotemporal dementia is becoming worse. He protruding tongue is an even more regular occurrence slurring his words with his inability to say "Thank You". A physically fit Joe Biden went on a long bike ride today and Donald Trump struggles to limp down a ramp because he is weak and sick from dementia.

Severe cognitive decline? Joe Biden went on a long bike ride today and Donald Trump can't even walk down a ramp. Donald is constantly slurring his words. We can see Donald Trump is in severe cognitive decline with dementia.

The economy is not "surging". 1.2 million people filed for unemployment this week and unemployment is over 10%. People returning to their old jobs is not "creating jobs".

New York has COVID-19 under control thanks to strong leadership from Cuomo without any help from failed weak lack of leadership from Donald Trump. Arizona, Texas, and Florida is being decimated with COVID-19 deaths and infections due to poor GOP Governors doing what Donald Trump tells them.

Richard Smith sounds just like Royell Storing with his b.s. propaganda.

165,041 deaths and 5,148,372 infections is not "winning".

300,000 deaths are predicted by November.

Are you really stupid enough to believe that Trump’s false rhetoric is factual? You trust the guy with 20,000 documented false or misleading statements?
