High-profile conservatives debunk Trump's 2020 election claims: there was 'no fraud that changed the outcome in even a single precinct'

Quote
A lengthy report written by well-known conservatives debunks Trump's false election claims.
Former federal judge Michael Luttig, a Jan. 6 hearing witness, contributes to the report.
Trump's claims that the 2020 election was fraudulent are "wrong and bad for our country," the report says.
A 72-page report released on Thursday by a group of eight prominent conservatives challenged a slew of election fraud claims former President Donald Trump has made about the 2020 election results.

"Donald Trump and his supporters have failed to present evidence of fraud or inaccurate results significant enough to invalidate the results of the 2020 Presidential Election," the report says. "We do not claim that election administration is perfect. Election fraud is a real thing; there are prosecutions in almost every election year, and no doubt some election fraud goes undetected."

The report continues, "But there is absolutely no evidence of fraud in the 2020 Presidential Election on the magnitude necessary to shift the result in any state, let alone the nation as a whole. In fact, there was no fraud that changed the outcome in even a single precinct."

The report, titled "LOST, NOT STOLEN: The Conservative Case that Trump Lost and Biden Won the 2020 Election," includes the voices of lawyers, retired federal judges, and former senators who analyze the over 60 court cases Trump and his allies filed in the six battleground states he lost, costing him the election. The report was first reported on by CNN.
"It is wrong, and bad for our country, for people to propagate baseless claims that President Biden's election was not legitimate," the report says.

Among the conservatives who contributed to the report is Michael Luttig, a retired federal judge who testified before the House Select Committee investigating the Capitol attack on January 6 during its third public hearing. Luttig, along with several of the other authors of the report, expressed criticism of the former president on many occasions.

Other well-known contributors include former Sen. John Danforth of Missouri, lawyer Benjamin Ginsburg, Thomas Griffith, former federal judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, David Hoppe, chief of staff for former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, Michael W. McConnell, former judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, former US solicitor general Theodore B. Olson, and former Sen. Gordon H. Smith of Oregon.

The report is broken down by state and analyzes cases in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Each case analysis includes an addendum showing the case filed, the claim that was made, and the ending result. Many of the cases listed in the report were dismissed on merit or dropped voluntarily by plaintiffs, Trump and his supporters, or by state judges. The writers of the report also looked at how missing mail-in ballot situations were handled by each county election office.

"Fraud, irregularities, and procedural deficiencies formed the basis for challenging the results in five of the six highly contested Electoral College battleground states," the report says. "Trump verbally attacked the elections as fraudulent, but his lawyers never filed such charges in court … We conclude that Donald Trump and his supporters had their day in court and failed to produce substantive evidence to make their case."

The report included a plea to other conservative Republicans to reconsider their priorities and change their tune on the election.

"We urge our fellow conservatives to cease obsessing over the results of the 2020 election, and to focus instead on presenting candidates and ideas that offer a positive vision for overcoming our current difficulties and bringing greater peace, prosperity, and liberty to our nation," the report says.

The effect of conservative Republican's refuting Trump's stolen election claims? None. Trump supporters don't want to hear it. Period.

This is a great graph.

Yes it shows all the debt racked up by Republicans since Bush senior.

When these debt increasing Republicans left office, it was Democrats that brought down and decreased their debt.

I remember back in 2012, right wingers accused Obama of "doubling the debt". That was their huge talking point and the right wing media played it up big even though Obama turned around Bush's economic disaster. But as we know, they were lying because Obama did not "double the debt". That debt was George W. Bush's debt that he did not pay off. Two failed wars, his two big tax breaks for the ultra wealthy, and his bogus prescription drug program that did nothing but increase the price of medicine for seniors. So, in order to pay off Bush's debt, Obama had to put that debt on the books so he could start paying it down. So, when the debt increased because it was put on the books to get paid off, right wingers accused Obama of "doubling the debt". That's what a bunch of liars they are. But as the chart shows, Obama brought it down.

Republicans are already talking about eliminating Social Security and Medicare so they can give more tax cuts to their billionaire donors and corporations that fund their election campaigns. If they ever get the power they will do it. People need to vote all of these Republicans out to save Social Security and Medicare. Otherwise, seniors will be starving and without medication when they have no more Social Security income.

CNN’s Jake Tapper goes off on the ‘utter shamelessness’ of Republicans who doubted 10-year-old was raped

CNN's Jake Tapper blasted Republicans who refused to accept the fact an Ohio child was raped and was forced to travel to Indiana to get an abortion after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade and imperiled access to reproductive health care in America.

"Earlier this month, the Indianapolis Star newspaper published a horrifying story in which a doctor described a 10- year-old girl in Ohio who had been raped and became pregnant as a result of the rape and had to travel to Indiana to get an abortion because Ohio law is so severely restrictive now that Roe vs. Wade has been overturned," Tapper reported.

The child was likely only 9 when she was raped, which authorities have said the suspect admitted doing multiple times.

"Yesterday, in Ohio, the alleged rapist was arrested and charged," Tapper reported. "It is a hideous ordeal and it was made all the more grotesque by the fact that in the days after the story was published and after President Biden mentioned the report and the girl in his speech, many Republican lawmakers and right-wing media figures immediately began attacking the poor girl's story as a lie. It's a lie that these conservatives falsely alleged was invented by liberals now that Roe v. Wade has been overturned and states are enacting strict abortion bans."

Tapper noted comments made by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost on Fox News, who insisted that investigators were not pursing the case prior to the arrest and said it was likely a "fabrication." He also noted similar comments by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and The Wall Street Journal editorial board.

"Nope, nope, nope," Tapper said. "All of them wrong."

"There's nothing wrong with wanting confirmation of facts," Tapper said. "Facts are vital. You can be forgiven for finding it odd to witness the glee, the utter shamelessness of the various public figures over the past few days declaring this is a lie, seemingly more focused on making political hay out of this tragedy than trying to find out if it was true."

'My mind is blown!' House Republicans slammed for voting against Amber Alerts for mass shootings

This week, the House of Representatives passed a bill that would establish an Amber Alert-style system to let people in an area know there is an active shooter situation. While the bill was bipartisan, 168 House Republicans voted against it — and some of them gave eyebrow-raising reasons.

"It's because they want you to be afraid of the Second Amendment," said Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) in a speech on the floor. "It's because they want you to be afraid of responsible gun ownership." "This is another example of Washington creating another department, another position, spending more money we don't have in order to have a policy objective and advance fear among the American people," said Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX).

On MSNBC Thursday, anchor Joy Reid tore into the GOP opposition votes with Brandon Wolf, a survivor of the Pulse Nightclub shooting.

"Brandon, my friend, you know, I can't think of anything that should be more bipartisan and easy to vote for than an Amber Alert-type system to let people know, hey, there's an active shooter in your area," said Reid. "This would be like saying the current Amber Alert system, which helps us find sexual predators, is just trying to make people afraid of people who want to rape children. Yeah, we should be afraid of people who want to rape children! That's why we have an Amber Alert system. They kidnap a kid, yes, we're afraid of people who want to abduct and hurt children. My mind is blown that 168 Republicans thought that was a bad idea. I can only imagine what you think."

"The absurdity would be comical if it wasn't deadly in nature," said Wolf. "I think you have to start by considering what the Republican message to this country has been on gun violence for decades. They've told us gun violence is inevitable. Sorry you saw your kid to school only to see them carried out in a body bag. Sorry you had to provide a DNA sample because your nephew's body was mangled. Sorry you sent grandma to the grocery store only to be gunned down in the produce aisle. That's simply the way the cookie crumbles. That has been, for decades, been the Republican message on gun violence. If that's true, if you believe there's nothing we can do about gun violence, that it's just an inevitable way of American life, why on earth would you oppose giving people the very best information possible to be kept alive?"

"I'll tell you why," Wolf continued. "It's because Republican leaders in this country are not capable of, nor are they interested in doing the jobs that they've asked for. Democrats, I think, need to call it like it is. Republican politicians are obstructionist wannabe reality television stars who view their positions in government simply as a chance to see themselves on TV as often as possible. And, America, we have to be honest with ourselves. We have to stop enabling these totally unserious political mercenaries who are content to surround themselves with security without so much as giving us a heads-up that there is a shooter around the block. In a functioning democracy, this would and should cost every one of them their jobs."

There's always bills in the House of Representatives that will be partisan in voting, but there bills that should be unanimous for both Republicans and Democrats. This was a bill that should have had the support of EVERY House Republican.

This was the "Active Shooter Alert System" bill that warns the public if there is an active shooter in your area. With all the recent mass shootings happening, the public needs to be warned in case of an incident. 168 House Republicans voted "NO" to alerting you if a mass shooter is in your area. How can a Republican vote against the safety of the public especially their own constituents?

I keep telling you these radical Republicans in congess do not care about Americans and this vote is another perfect example. They don't even care to do their job. Ensuring that communities are safe is the number one responsibility of a congressman, they took an oath swearing to protect us, but these Republicans do not even care to keep their own communities safe. That's a clear dereliction of duty and they deserve to be voted out. If they refuse to help keep you safe what good are they? How can they complain about violence when they just voted "NO" to warn you about violence?

Wouldn't you want to be alerted if some nut with an AR-15 was at large in your community? I would.

Republicans have given mass shooters easy access to deadly weapons with lax gun laws. And now when one goes berserk in a city, Republicans vote "NO" to alert us to keep us out of danger. So, it's fair to say that Republicans are on the side of violent mass shooters because there is absolutely no reason to vote against warning the public to save lives when a maniac with a deadly weapon is on the loose. Republicans are helping mass shooters instead of helping the public be alerted.

This bill only passed because of Democrats. If the House was controlled by Republicans, this bill would have been voted down to defeat. 43 Republican did what they were supposed to do but the 80% failed miserably. There is never a reason to vote against public safety and 80% of House Republicans did just that. Shame on them and the one Democrat that voted no.

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree  @chelliepingree

House Republicans are so extreme that last night ~80% of them voted against a bill to notify the public when there's an active shooter in their area.

Another bill that was brought to the House floor for a vote, was "The Amendment To The 2023 Defense Programs Bill". This bill was designed to combat neo nazis and other violent hate groups members that infiltrated our military.

EVERY single Republican voted "NO" to combat neo nazis in our military.

So, It's fair to say that Republicans are on the side of neo nazis because they just voted to protect neo nazis.

How low can these Republicans go?

Republicans are always accused of supporting neo nazis and other hate groups, and after this vote, we can see that they side with the neo nazis. Otherwise, they would have voted "yes" to prevent neo nazis from taking over our military.

Once again, Republicans have shown their true colors.

Bill Pascrell, Jr. @BillPascrell

We just voted to combat neo nazis in our military and every single republican voted no

Republican official learns the hard way not to travel to Las Vegas while under indictment

Right-wing county clerk Tina Peters was indicted on 10 criminal charges, but she's not in jail yet. So, Peters thought she could flee to Las Vegas without notifying the court, the Colorado Sun reported Thursday.

Peters' indictment comes from her efforts trying to break into voting machines in Mesa County, Colorado after the 2020 election when former President Donald Trump lost the state and she tried to prove the conspiracy theory that the election was stolen through fraud. Trump and his allies have spent the past two years spreading the conspiracy theories despite evidence to the contrary.

Seven of the charges Peters faces are felonies, though she continues to maintain her innocence and even ran for office to be Colorado Secretary of State, but she lost in the GOP primary to someone who believes Trump lost.

While Peters was allowed to travel outside of Colorado to visit Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago while running for office, her campaign is now over. Most defendants on bond must inform the court before any out-of-state travel. District Court Judge Matthew David Barrett agreed with prosecutors and banned Peters from traveling without permission.

Still, Peters ignored it, heading to Vegas for a convention for the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association.

A warrant has now been issued for her arrest and she'll be jailed until the next hearing.

A group representing the majority of House Republicans has signed on to a new agenda calling to cut Social Security and Medicare if they win power. Seniors will lose their income.

Look at what Mitch McConnell said before and now.
