Your cynicism is understandable but we can just as easily ask “why did he wait so long to cash in on his experiences?” if we are assuming that he’s just trying to make a quick buck.

Landis is 88 years old now. He could’ve wrote a book decades ago and had more time to enjoy his earnings if he didn’t wait 60 years.

So I’m more inclined to believe he’s coming clean because he’s near the end of his life. Which isn’t unusual for people who keep secrets after experiencing a traumatic event. When he says he experienced PTSD after the Kennedy assassination, I believe him. Can’t imagine how I’d feel after seeing someone’s brains blown out in front of me…

No. You'd don't handle a situation like that. He was a government official. Any official would have seen the bullet, picked it up, and reported it immediately to a superior or colleague. You DON'T pick it up, lay it on a towel, and walk away from it and THEN decide to write a book about it 60 years later. It sounds like pure bullspombleprofglidnoctobuns.

And if the quotes and disclaimers I pulled from the VM article mean nothing to you, then it sounds like you're one of the many others who fall for stuff like this.

       All of us have seen the film footage of Lt. Day carrying the alleged Carcano by its' strap as he walked right down Elm street and then eventually got into his car parked at the curb. Or how about the willy-nilly manner that SA Hickey was handling that AR-15 with "one in the barrel" in the back seat of the Queen Mary? Yet you do not believe a govt official would, "handle a situation like that"? You're kidding yourself.

No Secret Service agent would put a bullet on a stretcher.
But you could also say, with the same level of incredulity, that no Secret Service agent would come out with a story 60 years after the event that conflicted with his original statements and saying that he put a bullet on a stretcher.

Royell is back too? It’s like old home week!

   Hey John. Have you checked out "You Tube" lately? "The JFK Theorist" has posted 2 visually decent versions of The Darnell Film. The detail in the train yard with Roger Craig along with that alleged motorcycle cop behind him is very good. Also gives us a better but not great look behind the Black Dog Man Nook and The Bench. That area behind the wall that Hargis ran up to remains a Black Hole to this day. Also, there is a "between the sprocket holes" version of the Bell Film. Looks to be the same HD Bell Film that was offered in bits and pieces on "The Lost Bullet" DVD. There is also a lot of different people offering "walk throughs" of Dealey Plaza detailing the LOS from a myriad of directions. One guy flew a drone over Dealey Plaza and the TSBD and filmed that LOS. Lotta stuff offered there that can be discussed in detail here.

It’s fine to criticize how Landis handled the evidence (I’m sure he’s aware that it was a mistake) but let’s not pretend that he was the only police officer or federal agent who mishandled JFK assassination evidence.

   It's difficult to admit to the mishandling of alleged evidence, when you have a pension riding on your staying in line. Lotta people remained silent due to this being understood and a NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) having been forced upon them. White House photog Robert Knudsen and his "sealed" HSCA Testimony of seeing autopsy photos of probes in the body of JFK being a case on point.

Seems to me your first point here offers an explanation for why he might have kept quiet for so many years about how he acted: embarrassment.

But now, as he hits 90, his conscience tells him to come clean before it's too late.

What's freaking out the Warren Gullibles about this Landis thing is not just Mr. Landis' story itself but also the fact that it is getting not unsympathetic coverage from legacy media
