This is an argument from authority since just because a PhD makes a claim, it doesn't automatically follow that he knows what he's talking about. And even if dozens of PhDs come to the same conclusion, that also doesn't necessarily mean that they know what they're talking about either. There are plenty of tall foreheads in academe who have no idea how to apply their theories in the real world. AKA known as the 'ivory tower' syndrome.
